3 Easy Steps To Envision Your Future: Even If You Don't Know Exactly What You Want

Sometimes we get so hung up and focused in our current reality that it is challenging to imagine a different life. Our current actions and routine create the outcomes we are getting right now. It would be crazy to expect that to be different without changing our behavior.

Changing our behavior requires us to first believe what we want to achieve is possible. That belief is imprinted in our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind thinks in terms of pictures which is why I start my envisioning and dreaming with picturing my ideal life.

Vision boards are a great tool for this. I also create a vision photo album on my phone and use photos in my affirmations. That picture is powerful. That picture must vividly paint the picture of success. We need to see ourselves living our ideal life to tap into the subconscious mind and help us believe it is possible.

If you aren't sure on where you want to be, take a look at the highlights of where you have been. What have you had in your life that you want more of? Or what do you want to eliminate? Taking a look at the past gives you clues of what you want to experience in the future.

The second step to envisioning your future is to think of the emotion you will feel once you achieve the picture you see in your mind. Emotion drives actions and decision-making and makes the picture even more vivid. The more vivid and real the picture appears and feels, the more your actions align with creating this your reality. Focus on that emotion and imagine what it will feel like once you achieve that future picture. This is something you want to do every day to make it clear and vivid.

To make the vision a reality, the 3rd step is to write a couple goals that close the gap between where you are today and where you want to be in that vivid picture you have created. What must be true in order for that picture to be your life? Concrete, measurable, realistic goals. What will you achieve by when and how will you measure your progress?

Turn those goals into actions you can do every day. Small action steps over time grow into big results. Document your progress and share with a partner that can cheer you on and support you on your journey.

It all starts with a picture. Imagine the possibilities. They are endless.
